Property fit for humans

Welcomed proposals are being considered by the Government to ensure that premises let by landlords are fit for human habitation.  The obligations contained within the Fitness for Human Habitation and Liability for Housing Standards Bill, will also extend to other areas of the building that the landlord has an interest such as common parts and would require landlords to remedy any problems and allow tenants to seek compensation.

This provides better protection for Council tenants, who are not currently covered by the Housing Health & Safety Rating System and Housing Act 2004.
