Sherrards Puts the Icing on the Cake for New Muffin Break Store

Artisan bakery chain Muffin Break has recently opened for business at Friars Walk Shopping Centre in the heart of Newport, South Wales. With the launch facilitated by award-winning law firm Sherrards Solicitors, the 82-seated rustic-style bakery opened its doors to the public for the first time in November, offering a diverse menu of freshly baked food ranging from muffins to savoury dishes.

Operating in 280 locations worldwide with an ever-evolving UK operation of around 60 stores, the locally-run franchise business has worked with Sherrards since 2008, on supporting its UK expansion programme through over 50 acquisitions.

Despite its consistent growth, the chain has retained its core values, operating much like a family business. With each new franchise, Muffin Break works with Sherrards on various legal matters such as negotiation of the property lease and the design/build of the store.

Property lawyer, Stephanie Kierans, comments: “Muffin Break is a real success story and we have been delighted to help them in achieving their goals. Building a strong working relationship with them has been crucial. It is not enough to be a legal expert; you have to understand the client’s business and their key drivers.”

The Newport branch is one of many to have opened recently in partnership with Sherrards, having opened a number of bakeries across the UK including – Derby, Southend-on-Sea, Birmingham, Durham, Norwich, Horsham, Lewisham, Telford and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Expansion plans are set to continue, with Muffin Break seeking to take new space in established retail shopping centres throughout the United Kingdom.
