Sherrards hits the mark in this year’s legal directories

The two most prestigious legal directories in the UK are produced by Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500, and we are delighted to say that Sherrards has been highly recommended in both directories.

Sherrards has received recommendations in both Chambers and Legal 500 directories

Our principal departments have been ranked in the areas of Corporate/M&A, Litigation and Real Estate in Chambers, and this year   for the first time our Private Client Department has been recognised with a full ranking in Chambers.

The firm has also been recognised by Chambers for its work in Franchising.

In addition to being recognised in these areas by the Legal 500 directory, we have also been ranked by the Legal 500 in the areas of Employment, Technology, Media & Telecoms, and Intellectual Property.

Head of Litigation and International Services, Paul Marmor, has been cited as a leading individual in both directories, alongside Leigh Head of our Corporate & Commercial Department, and Keith Robinson and Jean-Paul da Costa have also been mentioned as leading lawyers in the Legal 500.

The head of our Commercial Property Department, Terry Fendt, has also been recognised by both directories.

As well as being cited in Chambers’ UK directory, Sherrards has also been picked up by Chambers Global, with Steven Loble of the Litigation Department receiving special mention for his specialist international services with regard to his focus on the United States.

Manzoor Ishani is one of a handful of lawyers regarded by Chambers as a “senior statesman”.

Barney Laurence has also received special mention as an associate “to watch”, which is a marvellous reflection of his up-and-coming practice and place within the Litigation team.

Particularly rewarding were the testimonials published by Chambers on our respective departments, including:-

Litigation: “I would use them again in a heartbeat”, “Extremely efficient and very professional, with a sound approach to conducting litigation

Franchising, falling within the Company Commercial Department: “Client service and commercial awareness is very good

Real Estate: “They are very efficient, and in terms of protecting my interests they are doing a good job.  Also, they are extremely good at coming back to us and the other side’s solicitors”, “They are speedy, proactive and have a commercial outlook.  They don’t get bogged down, and get the deal done on a commercial basis

Of our Private Client team: “Their approach has never felt like a corporate one, but more one of genuine interest and care in the individual

Alasdair McMillin, Sherrards’ Managing Partner, comments: “I think what most touched me was the comment about our Private Client Department, describing how our approach ‘has never felt like a corporate one, but more one of genuine interest and care in the individual’, because when all is said and done that reflects our philosophy across the whole firm, in terms of the collaborative and relationship-building approach we take to working with our clients and looking after their needs.  I have to be honest and say that I was really ‘chuffed’ when I saw the results, and it is truly a tremendous team effort from all of our departments and our leading lawyers, whether mentioned by name or not.”
