Partners from Sherrards Solicitors attended Alliott Group’s Annual Worldwide Conference in New York City from 21 – 25 October 2015. Now in its 36th year, the conference brought together 111 lawyers and accountants from 30 countries to network, share strategies and discuss issues facing their clients and the professional services sector.
Paul Marmor, Head of Litigation and International Services, has taken up a new position as Chair of Legal Recruitment for the Group, allowing Paul to continue his work in building up the legal membership, which now has representatives in over 40 locations.
The Group also includes accountants in over 130 locations, making the organisation truly global.
Paul reflects: “Our membership of the Alliott Group is the basis of our international coverage, and alongside our involvement in UK Trade & Investment, the International Bar Association and American Bar Association, we have an ability to place work and open doors worldwide, through fellow professionals whom we know and trust, who think as we do.”
Sherrards’ Managing Partner, Alasdair McMillin, adds: “Sherrards are about developing relationships with, for and on behalf of our clients, and everything we do, including on the international stage, is about collaboration.”
Alasdair attended the worldwide conference in New York representing the firm’s Property Department, and presented to the legal section, emphasising that real estate has come alive in the UK, and has become a growing part of Sherrards’ business, where we are increasingly acting for businesses and individuals investing in commercial and personal real estate across the region.
Head of Private Client Services, Nicole Marmor, also addressed the legal section of the conference on the Brussels IV Convention. Nicole says: “The Brussels IV Convention is effectively tearing down the rules across Europe on forced heirship. Being able to collaborate with other European legal and accountancy members of the Alliott Group is an invaluable resource for what we do, and indeed that is true of our members across the globe, where cross-border wills, trusts and probate issues are becoming ever more common, as the world becomes a much smaller place, with more mobility and flexible working patterns.”
James Hickey, Alliott Group’s CEO, provided further comment on the Alliott Group’s Annual Worldwide Conference: “The number of countries represented at the event demonstrates the diversity and geographic coverage of our Group and the value our members derive from meeting face to face on a regular basis with their counterparts from across the world. This was our most successful and well-attended conference to date and is a clear indication of Alliott Group’s global strength.”
