A touch of Havana comes to Chancery Lane

The UK Ambassador to Cuba, His Excellency Tim Cole, gave a briefing on recent developments in Cuba at the Law Society of England & Wales’ headquarters in Chancery Lane, London.

The Ambassador commented that: “Insofar as British business and professional firms are concerned, there are all types of opportunities in Cuba, but patience and persistence are required to have success.”

Lizzette Robleto de Howarth from The International Division of The Law Society added: “As Cuba improves its relations with the USA and other jurisdictions across the world, and with President Obama’s recent visit to the island still fresh in the memory, we were pleased to provide this briefing on what is next for Cuba, as well as potential opportunities to explore.”

Paul Marmor, Head of International Services at Sherrards Solicitors, who was invited to attend the briefing, observed: “Last year, I met with Cuban lawyers in Havana and also in Washington DC through the American Bar Association, and there is no doubt that there are exciting times ahead, but it will not happen overnight.  At Sherrards, we are very happy to make introductions to Cuban professionals through our links via UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), The Law Society and the American Bar Association.  Our thanks to the Law Society for holding this briefing.”
