China & the Far East
The economies of China and the Far East are becoming increasingly powerful. With trade increasing between the UK and the Far East, we are regularly consulting on legal matters ranging from arbitration and acquisitions to trade-mark protection in this region.
Laurel (Xueying) Zhang, a Solicitor and native Mandarin speaker, heads our China & Far East group. We advise companies from China, Taiwan and other countries on trading and setting up in the UK and help with litigation and dispute resolution matters including the enforcement of foreign judgements and debt recovery.
Our membership of Alliott Group Legal gives us access to law and accountancy firms across the Far East, including Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong.
Guidance for Chinese and Hong Kong businesses trading in the UK
Sherrards, in collaboration with the UK Government’s international trade agency, Department for International Trade (DIT), has recently published an Export for Growth guide aimed at businesses keen to exploit the opportunities that are available through international trade. The guide will also be of use to Chinese, Hong Kong and Far East businesses looking to set up in the UK, especially as a springboard for the rest of Europe.
